I didn’t know how bad I felt until I felt better.

I used the surgery as a tool and not a crutch. Now I want to inspire people that have to wear their food addiction and show the world every day. They need hope!

During the year of my gastric bypass surgery, I lost half of my body by sticking to the rules and working out. I got a personal trainer that became my only cheerleader when everyone around me told me I had lost enough weight. Now I am a personal trainer with a bachelors in Health because I want to be that cheerleader for others.

The day that I turned 40 years old I weighed 309 lbs. and I had a 54 inch waist. That very day my doctor determined that I had high blood pressure and as a result I began taking blood pressure medicine. He also told me that I was “pre diabetic” and that I would likely become diabetic and that would ultimately lead to more medication. My grandfather was obese and ultimately died from a heart attack when he was 50 years old. My father is obese and has multiple weight related health problems and is forced to take a buffet of medications. I did not want to die of a heart attack or some other cause related to being obese and I hate taking medication. So I decided to have surgery.

Since then I have become a regular runner. My wife also runs and we are now making it a family priority. Our boys are now running with us.

I have gone from a 54″ waist to a 32″ waist
